Four children ‘aged between three and 11’ have been rushed to hospital following a serious assault at a house, police say.
A man in his mid-thirties has been arrested after the kids were discovered with serious injuries inside the property in Blainroe, Ireland.
Two of the children were airlifted to Tallaght Hospital in Dublin after Gardaí and Emergency Services arrived at the scene, the Irish Mirror reports.
The remaining pair were taken to the facility by ambulance. It is understood their injuries suggested they had been choked.
Police are now investigating the incident, which took place in County Wicklow at around 7.30pm yesterday.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
Reports say the victims were two boys and two girls aged between three and 11.
The man arrested in connection with the investigation, who is yet to be named, is currently being held at Wicklow garda station.
A garda spokesman said: “Gardaí have arrested a man, mid 30’s, in connection with an investigation into the serious assault of four children that occurred at Blainroe, County Wicklow yesterday, Friday 3rd June 2016 shortly after 7.30pm.
“Gardai and emergency services attended the scene after the four children were discovered in a house in a serious condition. All four children were taken to Tallaght Hospital, two were airlifted.
“A man was arrested a short time later and is currently detained at Wicklow Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
“The scene is preserved for technical examination.”
